Monday 8th May – 53 members and friends enjoyed a visit to Bellaghy’s Heaney Home Place.
The award winning building in the main street of the village features an interactive exhibition over two floors, filled with personal stories, images and the voice of Seamus Heaney himself.
The group spent a few hours touring the exhibition, then enjoyed a lovely lunch in the Home Place café. The 8th was just the day before the visit of Prince Charles and Camila to the Centre so it was very interesting to see the final preparations, staff training for the occasion.
Before leaving Bellaghy we visited the cemetery to see the poets grave and recognised his brother cutting grass. He was willing to chat to folk from the group which was an extra bonus for everyone.
